Making friends is hard. Actually being friends is even harder. Sometimes in the process of making friends. We miss quite a few things along the way. Those things that are typically what are showing us that the individual(s) that we are trying to be friends with, are probably not going to be good friends for us in the future. One of those is the “friend” that does things when convenient for them.

When you are truly friends. You relish in interacting with one another. There are friends that don’t mind hanging out… as long as you a accommodate their whims. These friends normally only hang out with you when it suits them. Like if they need a wingman for a date or someone accompany them to help with errands. If you make the request to hang and they consistently turn down the requests. Chances are they really aren’t your friends.
You ever call / text a “friend” and they NEVER or hardly EVER pick up the phone or return a text. Chances are they are avoiding you. That’s not what friends do. If the only time you hear back from them is when they want something. This is a clear and cut sign that you are not really friends.
You shouldn’t have to work hard at being friends with people. It should be effortless. When you see that the relationship is one sided. You should just cut your losses. Now you should however work hard at being a friend. We’ll discuss that another time.
