You know that it’s excellent for foot strength, your glutes, your legs and of course your heart. But could be some other benefits that are not tangible? What else can dance fitness provide to participants? A complete mental overhaul. Here are some ways in which this happens.
Social Environment: One of the things that we truly value in our M. Nicholson Hip Hop Fitness program is the ability of the participants in the class to form relationships. Yes, you can dance at home by yourself, and you probably do when your home alone, but dance becomes something else when you dance with others. When you’re in the presence of other individuals who came to dance. You all are on one accord. It’s a celebration of sorts. It also allows you to build up the next item on the list.
Confidence Booster: From time to time, I call up some of the family members on the program to come up to the front of the class and lead. This not done to humiliate, mock, or make anyone feel uncomfortable. It’s to do the total opposite, and that is to empower. To assist in building the individual’s confidence. When they are in class, it’s their time to shine. When they are in front of the class, it’s their time to shine even brighter. Spatial Awareness: in M. Nicholson Hip Hop Fitness. You have to be conscious of where you are in class, whatever space we are in due to being in a class with others. Dance fitness can help you visually perceive where two or more objects are in relation to yourself. This ability is crucial because you don’t want to bump into things and or people constantly. This is something that you need in your everyday life. Lack of spatial awareness can result in problems with motor skills, problem-solving, body awareness, and performance at your job, school, or around the house.
