To the Ones Who Endureth

Often times I speak in an archaic vernacular. I use words from the King James Version of the Bible quite frequently. One of those is the third party use of endure. The word endureth. Meaning to undergo certain circumstances without giving in. In our M. Nicholson Hip Hop Fitness family we have a lot people whom exemplify that meaning of the word. I can give you the most extraordinary list of members that do possess this. Today however I’m going to talk about Laura Henderson.

If I had to pick one thing to say something about Laura Henderson. It would be that she is resilient. I met Laura prior to starting the M. Nicholson Hip Hop Fitness brand. I remember the first day that she took my hip hop fitness class back when I was working with Diamond Dance and Fitness in Westerville, Ohio off of Shrock Rd. She arrived with some friends of hers. The thing that stood out to me about Laura is that she was ALL IN. Meaning she gave her all in her very first class with me. Her energy was and still is amazing. She has shown amazing support throughout the years and I definitely appreciate that great. She not only inspires me and others via her enthusiasm but also her ability to bounce back.

Laura a few months ago sustained an injury. One that put her out of commission from participating in our M. Nicholson Hip Hop Fitness program for quite a while. Often times people sustain incapacitating injuries, they don’t return to physical fitness activity. They let that injury sideline them. They use the injury as an excuse. Now don’t get me wrong. There are injuries that I’ve witnessed that have taken people totally out of commission. I also however have witness a man with no legs that have climbed Mt. Everest. Laura didn’t let this injury take her out. She was missed us and we missed her. She kept in contact and continued to be inspired and she was inspiring.

Laura worked hard to maintain her physical fitness. One of the key things that I think helped her get back to her fitness routine was just thinking about it. She didn’t focus on what she couldn’t do. She focused on the idea that she was going to be able to do at some point and time. It is with great pleasure that I can alert to the fact that Laura came back to class and hasn’t missed a beat.

Don’t waste your time focusing on the can’t. Rather focus on the can and will.
